The Miami Heat come into tonight's game with a record of 42-14, including seven consecutive victories. In the month of February the Heat went 9-1, their lone loss coming against the Utah Jazz on the road on February 8th. Today Erik Spoelstra was named Eastern Conference Coach of February, due to the almost perfect record the Heat put up in the month. The defensive woes the Heat have faced throughout the year, have seem to have subside in the month of February; as they have played better defensively guarding on the ball and playing the passing lanes. Miami has been on a roll lately as they find themselves 2.5 games behind the Indiana Pacers, who are on top of the NBA record wise.

Tonight the Heat look to continue their seven game wining streak without Dwyane Wade, as he is out of tonight's game due to rest. Tonight's game is the first game of a back-to-back which concludes tomorrow night on the road against the Houston Rockets.

Miami Heat vs N.Y Knicks Post-game

Behind the masked man, the Miami Heat cruised to a 108-82 victory against the New York Knicks Thursday at American Airlines Arena. James had 31 points, four rebounds and four assists in his first game back since he sustained a broken nose last week.

The Knicks kept it close in the first half behind Carmelo Anthony, who finished with 29 points and seven rebounds. New York trailed by just five at halftime before the Heat turned it on in the third quarter; as they went on a 23-3 run to close the third quarter up 87-64. In the fourth the game continued to be a blowout, with 6:49 left in the game the Heat started to sit key players such as LeBron and Chris Andersen.

LeBron set the Internet in a craze with the Batman/Toro looking, carbon-fiber black mask he chose to protect his nose. These were James post-game comments about picking the black mask “It went with the uniform. We were wearing throwback black. I was able to get a carbon fiber (mask), which is actually lighter than the one I'd been wearing in practice. It came through at the last minute and I went with it."

Despite all the talk about James' facial accessories, LeBron has now scored at least 30 points in five straight games for the Heat. LeBron has had a monster month of February as he averaged 30.8 points, 6.7 assists, 8.1 rebounds, while shooting 57.5%; nobody has averaged these numbers in a month while shooting such as high field goal %, since

Wilt Chamberlin did it in 1966. He has elevated his game in the month of February after Kevin Durant had an incredible month of January. During KD’s excellent month of January many people in the media world, rushed to the equation that KD was MVP. The way James has played lately obviously shows LeBron doesn’t want to let Durant run away with the MVP trophy. If James wins the MVP again this year, it will be his 5^th in his career. He will pass Jordan who has 4 MVP’s in his career, he will tie Bill Russell with his five MVP awards, and it will also bring him within one MVP award of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who owns the record of most MVP’s by anybody in NBA history.

Wade finished with 23 points on 10-for-13 shooting from the floor. Dwyane Wade has now put together quite an impressive three-game stretch of 20-point games.

He as looked noticeably healthy, as his play of late has looked like the Wade of old. If you look below, you can see how he elevated his play in the month of February; as he average 21 points, 5.5 assist, 5.6 rebounds, while shooting 60% from the floor.
