In the final match up between the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets Dwyane Wade(hamstring) was sidelined for his seventh straight game, while Greg Oden(back spasms) and Udonis Haslem(stomach virus) also sat out. It was Dwyane Wade's 26th missed game of the season, due to the fact he was on a knee maintenance program in order to be healthy for the postseason. Dywane Wade sat out games for other minor ailments such as a case of drop foot, a strained hamstring, a cold and even migraines.
Kevin Garnett was on the bench as he dealt with a minor back  injury. As of matter of fact, Kevin Garnett averaged his fewest minutes of his career throughout the regular season with 20.5 minutes per game, he also missed 28 games in the season only playing 54 games in total; which was also the fewest amount of games he played in a regular season in his entire career.
Garnett along with Paul Pierce signed with the Nets on the off-season, as it became apparent the Boston Celtics were on the verge of rebuilding. Garnett and Pierce both took on a much different role once they came to Brooklyn as they were playing alongside Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, and Brook Lopez; they weren't the stars anymore, they were just a piece of the puzzle for the Nets. It is very ironic that Garnett and Pierce jumped ship from the Celtics this past off-season, when they ripped Ray Allen for joining the rival Miami Heat in the 2012-2013 off-season.
Even Doc Rivers jumped ship as he didn't want to be apart of a rebuilding Celtics team leaded by Danny Ainge President of basketball operations. The game was close throughout, but the largest lead was 13 points by the Nets who lead 27-14 with 11:18 remaining in the second quarter. The lead went down to seven points multiple times in the game. The largest lead by the Heat was four points 59-55 with 4:18 left in the 3rd quarter. Miami went into the 4th quarter up three points 65-62.
After a made three pointer by Paul Pierce with 8:12 left in the game the Nets took back the lead 72-69. The Heat took back the lead with 6:35 left in the closely fought contest after a layup by Chris Andersen put them up 74-72. Brooklyn took back the lead when they went up one point 75-74. after a made three pointer from Marcus Thorton with 5:58 remaining in the quarter. With 5:31 Lebron answered back with a 16ft jumper to give Miami the lead back,  as they went up 76-75. The Heat would maintain a slight lead until Marcus Thornton knocked down a three with 1:40 left in the game to bring the Nets up 84:82. After a 10ft shot from Joe Johnson the Nets went up by four points 86-82.
Five seconds later with :55 secs left in the game LeBron made a layup and got fouled by Paul Pierce, LeBron made the free throw, completing the three point play, bringing the Heat within one point 86-85. On the following possession by Brooklyn, Mason Plumlee converted on a layup giving the Nets a three point lead 88-85 with :41 seconds left in the game. In the following Heat possession Chris Bosh brought the Heat within one point 88-87 after he dunked the ball with :31 seconds left. With :10 seconds left in the game Joe Johnson missed a three pointer that would've sealed the game, Ray Allen collected  the defensive rebound and passed the ball to LeBron as the Heat decided to not call a timeout and just push the ball up the court, before the Nets defense could get set up. The Nets ran back on defense in time, then James passed the ball to Rashard Lewis who was stuck under the rim; Lewis then passed the ball back to LeBron with 5.4 seconds left in the game. LeBron went up to the rim with the  intention of dunking the ball, but Mason Plumlee was waiting for him up at the top of the rim and he blocked LeBron's dunk. Then Thornton grabbed the rebound for the Nets and dribbled out the rest of the clock, as the stunned Heat weren't able to foul anybody in time. The game was sadly over but the craziness continued when they showed the replay on the arena jumbo-tron and LeBron became furious, when it was apparent to LeBron and others that Plumlee clearly fouled him on his arm.
(Link to video of final seconds of the game below)
                                                         http://youtu.be/FvN-3116rR4

A lot of people think the fact that the Heat posted a 0-4 record versus the Nets in the regular season is going to make a big difference in this series, but I don't share that same view. Sure the Nets have players with length, shooting ability, all-star quality talent, and veteran savvy but they aren't back-to-back champions and they don't have LeBron James on their side. Brooklyn however does create mismatch issues with the length of Shaun Livingston and the length and shooting ability of Joe Johnson. Getting swept in the season series against the Nets will surely provide the Heat with more determination to take care of business against the Nets. Pierce and Garnett, foes of the Miami Heat and LeBron James still creates an intriguing storyline, even though their roles have completely changed since they signed with Brooklyn in the off-season, in contrast to the roles they had with the Celtics.
If LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and/or Chris Bosh make their imprints in the series I pick the Heat to advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals in five games, but if they don't achieve that consistently and Brooklyn plays how they played in the regular season, I predict Heat advance in 6 or 7 games.

    1. In the first game the Heat looked terrible on defense they had many collapses on the defensive end.
The Heat gave up way to many open and easy shots to the Pacers. A lot of the Heat players including Lebron found themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time on defense, this resulted in 37 fee throw attempts for the Pacers compared to 15 free throws attempted by the Heat.
The Pacers did have their best offensive game of the playoffs with them scoring 107 points. Usually the Pacers struggle to get over 85 points throughout an entire game but with the bad defense of the Heat they were able to get whatever shots they wanted, including three pointers. I can guarantee that Indiana is not going to shot as good as they did in Game 1 again in the rest of the series. The Heat played good on offense as they scored 96 points even though they struggled shooting three pointers. The Heat defense was mainly responsible for the 107-96 loss. I do think that the Heat will beat the Pacers and advance to the Nba Finals in 6 games. When the Heat are able to play at a high level defensively and get good open looks on offense I believe they are still the best team in the Nba.

  8. No problem. I was disappointed but I feel confident they will bounce back and win Game 2. The Heat have lost now five Game 1's in a series on the road in the big three era with the loss in Game 1. In three out of the four previous series where the Heat lost Game 1 on the road the Heat have won three straight games to advance to the next series. The results of tomorrow's game is going to make a huge impact in the series for the Heat
