Tonight's
much anticipated match-up between the visiting Miami Heat and Oklahoma City
Thunder is set up to be a must watch game. The last time these two teams faced
off against each other the Thunder won in Miami by 17 points 112-95. There are two major story lines in tonight's game, the ongoing dual
between the two best players in the NBA, Lebron James and Kevin Durant; as well
as the return of starting point guard Russell Westbrook who is returning from
injury for the first time since injuring his knee on Christmas Day. This
apparent rivalry between Lebron James and Kevin Durant is starting to feel like
the Magic vs Bird rivalry in the 1980's, as both players are fighting for the
MVP award. Kevin Durant has been given an edge in the MVP, race as he has been
putting up great numbers in the scoring department for the last couple months.
Some felt that Lebron was coasting this season in comparison to KD, but LJ has
recently proved that to be false. In the past three Heat games versus
the Suns, Warriors and Mavericks, Lebron has averaged 38.3ppg, 10.3rpg, and
6apg, while shooting 59% on 42-71 shooting. Lebron James is fresh of a stellar performance
in the last Heat game against the Dallas Mavericks, as he recorded 42 points, 9
rebounds, and 6 assists, including a twelve point 4 quarter. If the Miami Heat
with the 3rd best record in the NBA at 38-14 win tonight they will
come within 1.5 games of the Pacers for the top spot in the East, as well as
improving their record to 39-14. OKC comes into tonight’s game with the
best record in the league at 43-12, as they look to improve to 44-12.
