11-01-13. Heat Vs Nets Postgame

By Daniel Castro 11-02-13
The Miami Heat came out sluggish and offensively off for the second straight game during Fridays one point loss 101-100 against the Nets. A slow start to the season has been the norm the past couple seasons with the Heat.
Wade was aggressive throughout the first quarter while his teammates struggled.Miami finished the first quarter down nine 27-18. Throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters the bigger Brooklyn Nets continued to build a deeper lead opening an 11-point lead by the end of the third . Miami was trying to get back into the game during the 4th quarter but every step forward the Heat made the Nets had an answer for. With 1:01 left Miami was down 96-88  but with 0:50 left in the game Dwyane Wade made an unusual clutch three pointer to bring them within five points 96-91. Wade made a clutch play on defense in the following Nets possession , when he made a great defensive stop on the much bigger Kevin Garnett with 0:34 left to play. After Lebron James grabbed Garnett's miss with 0:33 left , the Heat pushed the ball up the floor deciding not to call a timeout. Starting point guard Mario Chalmers knocked down a clutch three to bring the Heat within two 96-94 with 0:18 left. After a Brooklyn timeout Mario Chalmers quickly elected to foul Deron Williams with 0:17 left. After Deron Wiliams connected on 1 out of the 2 free throws making it 97-94 , the Heat pushed the ball up the floor again. With 0:07 remaining Ray Allen was fouled receiving two free
throws , after making 1 out of the 2 shots the score was 97-95. Chris Bosh quickly fouled Paul Pierce with six seconds remaining, Pierce made both free throws giving the Nets a four point lead 99-95. After a quick Miami timeout Lebron made a clutch three pointer to bring the Heat within one 99-98. With 0:03 left Wade fouled Nets Joe Johnson , he connected on both free throws bringing their lead to 101-98. With approximately 0:02 Kevin Garnett fouled Chrish Bosh , after making the first free throw the Miami coaching staff had a bold idea to purposely miss the second free throw and try to get the rebound and score an easy two pointer. In between the two free throws the Heat put Chris Andersen into the game to help grab the rebound  and they also had Lebron ready to attempt to grab the rebound after taking a running start . This ingenious plan was broken up when Bosh connected with the second free throw making it 101-100 . After Bosh's made free throw Brooklyn inbounded the ball and wasted the rest of the clock , earning the one point victory. Even though the Heat were inconsistent throughout the game, the close ending  to the game gave an inside into the trouble's Miami will face against the Nets this year. The Nets size and ability to shoot from the perimeter can really cause the Heat a lot problems in the East.
